I think Wikis are great tools too. I liked the one I saw where the English teacher used Wikis to teach the elements of literature. Each group had to post different elements on the wiki. What a neat modern way to teach the same things we had to learn!
Here are some great sitesto usefor teaching readingand other topics in the middle school classroom.
http://www.help4teachers.com/samples2.htm

A Primary Math wiki. This wiki has been set up for primary classes to share their math learning with other classes around the world. A must look at for an elementary teacher.
http://primarymath.wetpaint.com/?t=anon
Bluebonnet blog -- anybody interested?
I really want to set up a Bluebonnet blog for Angleton students in grades three through six. On this blog students could comment on the books as they work their way through the current list of twenty Bluebonnet titles. Originally, I wanted to keep the comments to a positive nature, but I've changed my mind about that. The titles are carefully selected and are supposed to be good books, so let's let our readers "tell it like it is." The big question I have every year is which titles seem more appropriate for the Lone Star List??? Any other folks out there who would be interested in having their students participate???

You will learn about RSS readers, in particular, Bloglines. By the way, Google Reader is another option and preferred by some people.
Remember to send positive comments your fellow community members---AISD's Community Members
DuringSummer 2008,a question came up about how to get your items in GoogleReader to show up on your blog. I thought the information might be helpful to many of you.
GoogleReader doesn't have an option to list everything on your reader liston your blog. BUT, what you can do, is as you read something particularly good and you want to make it available to share with others, you can mark it to share in the reader. (When you open the article in the reader, there are some buttons at the bottom of the post, one is "share"). THEN, you can opt to display your shared items on your blog.
Check it out on my blog, where I added the Shared Items widget: http://meanoldlibrarian.blogspot.com
The directions to share are pretty easy and step by step. I found them on my Google
